John Lennon Wall
During the 1980s, John Lennon became the symbol for all Czech anti-government protesters, as they scribbled his lyrics and other political slogans on this now world-famous wall. From famous quotes like “give peace a chance” through personal sentiments from the individuals living through this period, the wall was a pertinent reminder of how things used to be.
The government whitewashed the wall in 1998, and many feared that the wall would lose its meaning and political resonance, but this did not happen. People continued to graffiti the wall, and it is now back to how it used to look and is still a potent reminder of the past.
