Discover Exciting Escapes: Explore Telč, Jaroměřice, and Náměšť nad Oslavou

Jan Zrzavý’s Art Exhibited in Telč
Telč Castle welcomes guests not only to its recently updated interiors, but also to entirely new sections of the castle that have never been accessible to tourists before. For the first time, visitors will have the chance to explore the castle terrace, providing a spectacular view of the castle park. This area was once home to buildings of a brewery that was destroyed by a fire in the 1930s. However, the castle still features a room where grains were soaked to brew beer. This unique experience will be available for the first time this year. Starting at the end of June 2025, after a twenty-year wait, the Telč castle will unveil a refreshed gallery showcasing paintings by Jan Zrzavý! Art enthusiasts can admire 30 stunning pieces by this renowned artist displayed within the Renaissance rooms that once served as quarters for castle servants. These artworks will be loaned to Telč by the National Gallery for a period of five years. Additionally, this year will see the opening of the chateau chapels – St. George’s Chapel located in the old castle, and All Saints’ Chapel featuring Zacharias’ tombstone. These will only be accessible during the Night of the Churches on May 23, 2025, illuminated by candlelight.
Eliška Rejčka and Jaroslav Hašek at Lipnice
Lipnice Castle – a stronghold of the Posázaví region, stands as one of the most significant aristocratic sites in the Czech Republic. Visitors are invited to explore the free tour of this impressive medieval architecture, which offers extraordinary views of the surrounding landscape. At the castle, guests can view an archaeological exhibit, the Gothic chapel, and the vast cellars that once housed the banquet hall of Henry of Lipá. On the weekend of May 3 and 4, the castle will host Queen Eliška Rejčka as it transforms into a lively medieval setting filled with nobles, clergy, servants, and townsfolk from the castle’s outskirts. This summer, during July and August, there will be special night tours featuring the works of Jaroslav Hašek.
Maestro Salieri at Náměšť nad Oslavou
Náměšť Castle is playing a significant role in the Maestro Salieri project, which this year honors the 200th anniversary of the death of composer Antonio Salieri while showcasing his musical contributions and ties to the Czech Republic. A season-long exhibition will be held at the castle from May 18 to November 2, 2025. Salieri had a deep musical and personal relationship with Heinrich Wilhelm Haugwitz, the estate manager at Náměšť, who aimed to make Náměšť a cultural hub. Their friendship lasted from the end of the 18th century until Salieri’s death and led to several musical pieces dedicated directly to Haugwitz. Among these, the Piccolo Requiem in C minor is particularly special, as it was gifted to Haugwitz along with a letter expressing Salieri’s desire for this piece to be performed in the castle’s chapel for the peace of his soul. This exhibition will be included in the tour of the Representative Rooms.
Three Castle Tours in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou
The splendid Baroque castle in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou offers visitors three different tour options: The Count’s Apartment, Guest Rooms with Kitchens, and Toys from the Attic. The Baroque Count’s Apartment is featured in the TV show Daughter of the Nation, while the Guest Rooms with Kitchens provide a glimpse into the lives of the castle’s last residents. Kids will love the Toys from the Attic exhibition, which showcases over 200 antique toys. Film buffs can enjoy an exhibition about movie-making at the castle, including a display of the prestigious EMMY Award. Additionally, during Easter, the castle will be beautifully decorated for the spring season. Schools can participate in a new program called Visit the Castle with a Fairy Tale, where children will embark on challenges leading them to the castle kitchen, where they can bake a gingerbread house and experience for themselves the work involved in creating a full gingerbread house. They can either eat the gingerbread or take it home to share with their parents.
Art Exhibitions and Scenic Views in Ledeč nad Sázavou
Ledeč Castle is one of the oldest noble castles in Bohemia and stands as the only remaining castle in the central Posázaví region. Perched on a limestone promontory above the Sázava River, this castle dominates the landscape surrounding Ledec nad Sázavou. After centuries of neglect, this important cultural monument of the Czech Republic is now waking up from its long slumber and regaining the recognition it truly deserves. Come and see for yourself how grand this noble mansion used to be. Ledeč nad Sázavou Castle invites you to explore its monumental medieval architecture that has evolved through the ages, showcasing styles from early Gothic to Baroque. You can take a guided tour of the castle grounds, visit the museum, and climb the castle tower for stunning views over the town and the picturesque landscapes interwoven with the Sázava River. Young visitors will find plenty of excitement with the Teddy Bear Kingdom exhibition. During the tour, you can access the southern bailey, which offers amazing views of the town, and children can enjoy running around in a charming little shrub labyrinth. Adventurous older children and fans of Jaroslav Foglar’s books can explore the dedicated exhibition about him. It was in the nearby Sunny Bay that he frequently held his scout camps, drawing inspiration for the themes found in his literary works.
