Easter Comes Alive in Old Town Square
Discover Folklore Groups and Blossoming Flowers to Beat Boredom!

At the widely celebrated Easter Markets, visitors can explore a total of 71 stalls selling various goods on Old Town Square (plus 3 additional stalls dedicated to charity) and 32 on Wenceslas Square. Shoppers will be drawn in by the traditional spring and Easter items, particularly highlighting Czech products. You can find a variety of products such as ceramics, pomlázky (Easter whips), Easter eggs made of wire and wood, crocheted blankets, as well as items made from wicker, straw, and rush, among many others. And what tasty treats await? Besides the beloved Czech meat sausage and aromatic gingerbread, attendees can savor traditional meals like Easter lamb, sweet mazanec (a type of bread), egg spread, and spring stuffing. The market will also feature lokše (potato pancakes), frgals (sweet pastries), vegetarian options, and delightful ice cream. A selection of soft drinks, both on tap and in bottles, will be available with a variety of flavors, including one eco-friendly option, which is water packaged in a rPET bottle.
The largest Easter markets are focused on reducing plastic use and integrating living nature into the city center, aiming to make the area more vibrant and pleasant. This year, the market will introduce wooden boxes—raised garden beds in two different sizes. In these boxes, local gardeners will cultivate live spring flowers, which will receive regular care. To brighten up the Old Town Square, there will be eye-catching three-meter tall birch trees that are expected to bloom soon. These trees will be adorned with colorful eggs and traditional ribbons. In the larger pots, you will find pansies, as well as popular spring bulbs such as daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths.
Alongside the live flowers, there will be ribbons and Easter eggs primarily presented in solid colors like green, orange, yellow, red, and blue. This year also brings the addition of the Easter Gate located at the entrance from Železná Street, which will symbolically open up to the Old Town Square and artistically define the market area. There will also be opportunities for festive photos at dedicated Easter photo booths.
