Don’t Miss the Prague Half Marathon Happening on April 5!

The famous Generali Prague Half Marathon is scheduled to begin in just two weeks, specifically on Saturday, April 5.

With an astonishing 16,000 individuals registered, this event is recognized as the largest half marathon event in Central and Eastern Europe.

“We are excited to witness such a remarkable turnout, which underscores the international allure of this race. The event filled all its spots in record time, with all entries selling out nearly six months prior to the race day,” remarked Jiří Nečásek, Marketing Director at RunCzech.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the race, once again featuring in the prestigious SuperHalfs series.

This distinctive series has been guiding endurance runners through some of the most captivating cities in Europe.

After stopping in Lisbon and Prague, the SuperHalfs series will proceed to Berlin, followed by visits to Copenhagen, Cardiff, and will culminate in Valencia, a city renowned for hosting five of the quickest women’s half marathon performances and seven of the top ten men’s times in history.

Expectations for the 2025 edition of the Generali Prague Half are high, with hopes of achieving new race records in both the men’s (58:24) and the women’s (1:04:52) categories.

The women’s record, set eight years ago by Joyceline Jepkosgei of the RunCzech Racing Team, was a landmark achievement for the sport, as she became the first woman in history to complete a half marathon in under 65 minutes. The fast and flat 21.097 km course is anticipated to yield another year of remarkable results.

The race will commence once again from Bubenské nábřeží, located just outside the entrance to Holešovice Market, which will also act as the finish line and the central hub for the Half Marathon Running EXPO.

Runners will traverse approximately 13 km of the course that runs right alongside the Vltava River, crossing it four times via different bridges. Throughout the route, participants will encounter seven refreshment stations and hydration points.

To enhance the atmosphere, fifteen live music stations will be evenly spaced along the route, contributing to the event’s vibrant energy.

The international nature of the race is evident from its participant roster, which includes runners from 125 countries spanning all continents. Over half of the participants are traveling from abroad, with Germany providing the largest group of entrants.

The participant gender ratio is 60% men to 40% women, and nearly one-third of all runners are aged between 31 and 40.
