Chateau in Bohemia pod Kosířem Kicks Off the Season with Laughter

Classicist castle and park in Bohemia pod Kosířem is set in a beautiful natural park that spans 21.5 hectares. This location is considered one of the most treasured historical green spaces in Moravia and has connections to the noble Silva-Tarouca family. The renowned Czech painter Josef Mánes, who was a friend of this art-loving family, frequently visited Bohemia pod Kosířem and created numerous works there between 1849 and 1870.

On the last weekend of March, specifically on March 29 and 30, 2025, the castle will welcome back all enthusiasts of historical architecture and interiors after its winter break. The main tour route takes you through the interiors of the south wing of the castle, featuring its original furnishings that reflect the style from the era of Franz Joseph II. Silva-Tarouca at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, showcasing artwork by Josef Mánes. Weather permitting, you may also enjoy a guided tour of the park, which includes several charming buildings. As part of the new season, the castle will also reopen the Haná Embassy – a gallery dedicated to the works of local artisans and artists. Here, besides discovering unique crafts, you can participate in creative workshops designed for both children and adults!

A variety of routes will also feature in the Jan and Zdeněk Svěrák’s film exhibition, which highlights films such as The General School, Kolya, The Dark Blue World, The Bottle Returns, Kuky Returns, and Three Brothers. Alternatively, you can join a guided tour of an exhibition showcasing a unique collection of vintage bicycles spanning the 19th to early 20th centuries. The Zdeněk and Jan Svěrák film exhibition is currently undergoing renovations. The first part of this exhibition will reopen just in time for Easter, while the second part – titled The Fairytale World of Zdeněk and Jan Svěrák – will take over the current vintage bicycle exhibition and will open this summer;
