Discover the Magic of Průhonice Park
Spring Blossoms, Timeless Traditions, and Enchanting Czech Fairy Tales

Průhonice Park is getting ready for its busiest visitor season, which kicks off at the start of April. Guests can anticipate a variety of beautiful spring flowers showcased in neatly arranged flower beds, as well as guided tours and time-honored exhibitions. At the end of May in 2025, there will be a grand celebration marking the 140th anniversary of Průhonice Park, along with the 15th Anniversary since it was added to the World Heritage List by UNESCO!
As you stroll through the park, you’ll also spot the renovated small buildings that house engaging exhibitions; these include the Fishery, Czech Cottage, and Wachhaus. For younger visitors, there’s an exciting family game called “Fairytale Průhonice Park”.
Traditional Event in Průhonice Park 2025
Along with taking leisurely walks around the grounds, exploring permanent exhibitions, and participating in family games, guests can also enjoy various traditional events during the peak season. Starting on April 5, visitors can partake in a tour featuring the collections of the Botanical Garden Průhonice – small bulbs and hellebores. On Saturday April 12, Průhonice Park will host the Spring Run, while a tour focused on the popular woody peonies will occur on May 10. The Botanical Gardens Day on May 22 promises a delightful tour of the Průhonice Botanical Garden’s collections. A significant highlight will be on May 24, which will feature a full-day program celebrating the 140th anniversary of the park’s founding and the 15th anniversary of its listing on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Attendees can look forward to guided tours of the iris collection along with a classical music concert. The popular vibrant exhibition Tulips in Průhonice will take place this year from April 29 to May 18.
The first summer event is set for June 7, featuring a Tour of Herbal Peonies. For those interested in the Open Gardens Weekend, mark your calendar for June 8, as there will be a special Alpina tour on this day. Between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, normally restricted areas of the castle (the cellar, Count’s study, and Knights’ Hall) as well as the church will be accessible to visitors. Join the Wine Trail through Průhonice Park on June 14, where you can walk a 6 km circuit and taste exceptional wines from local winemakers from Velké Bílovice. The time for blooming roses arrives at Průhonice Park on June 14 with a special tour titled Historic Roses. Besides these guided tours, throughout the year, the park will also host various cultural events and exhibitions. The end of summer will be marked this year by the traditional dahlia exhibition, which will take place from August 5 to September 28.
Permanent Exhibitions and a Fun Family Game
If you decide to visit Průhonice Park on weekdays or when no events are taking place, you will enjoy the peace of exploring the ongoing permanent exhibitions located in the small historic structures. The charming Czech Cottage has appeared in numerous Czech fairy tales due to its picturesque appearance. Inside the cottage, you can learn about the fairy tales that were filmed in the park and participate in a fairy tale quiz or discover the intriguing items hidden in a magic chest. The cottage is conveniently located near the entrance to the Grove. It was constructed for the Czechoslovak Ethnographic Exhibition (1895) and was brought to the park by its founder Arnošt Emanuel Silva-Tarouca. To add some fun to your visit to the Czech Cottage, the Botanical Institute of the CAS and Neohrano.cz have created a new family game “Fairytale Průhonický park“. This game takes you through famous filming locations in the park where children can complete various tasks. They will receive a small reward at the entrance for successfully finishing them.
In a quieter area of the park, close to Bořín Pond, stands the historical guard house Wachhaus. The front section of this building is open for visitors, while the interior with its period decor can be viewed through a peephole. The structure is newly furnished with benches that encourage visitors to take a break, and from the Wachhaus, there’s a stunning view over the pond. The Fishery, located near the castle at the Pond, originally served as a backdrop for the park’s fish farming activities. Although it was demolished in 2022, a replica was constructed based on historical photos. The wooden part is dedicated to the aquatic habitats of the park, showcasing the ecosystems of both flowing and stagnant waters. Meanwhile, the brick section reveals the secrets of the enchanting landscapes of Průhonice Park, illustrating the foundational landscape principles laid down by the park’s creator, thus making it a truly special place recognized on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Visitors will enjoy a wealth of information along with playful elements suitable for both young and old.
