Escape the Mundane: Discover the Allure of Hell Valley This Spring!

Valley of the PaleClose to Česká Lípa, in the vicinity of the village of Zahrádky, you will find the enchanting Hell Valley. This national natural monument is particularly stunning during the spring season, as it becomes home to hundreds of thousands of delicate spring pansies. Currently, these tiny flowers are starting to blanket the valley in their full splendor, creating beautiful carpets of minuscule white blooms that will delight you until approximately the first week of April as you stroll through the valley of the Robečský brook.

Every year, many visitors come to admire the rare blossoms found here. As temperatures rise, the bluebells bloom faster. This is a perfect time to witness the stunning carpets of snowdrops—this site near Česká Lípa is known as one of the largest hosts of these flowers in the country. With the warmth of the current weather, the snowdrops have started to bloom a week or two earlier than usual this year, and both the snowdrops and crocuses are now in vibrant bloom. The flowers typically take about three weeks to fully open, although this can vary depending on the weather conditions.

Educational trail from Zahrády to Česká Lípa

NPR PekloThis educational trail takes you through the scenic alluvium of this national natural monument, showcasing rock overhangs, winding through a rock tunnel, and crossing waterlogged areas on wooden pathways. You can reach this trail starting from the castle in Zahrádky, traveling via the Karba settlement, which features cottages nestled closely against sandstone rocks, some of which partially grow into the stone. The path continues to the bridge (Lisova sama), and by passing the Scout Rock, you will find yourself approaching Česká Lípa and Dubice. If you’re looking to extend your adventure, you can climb out of the valley to visit the Nový Dvůr goat farm, where you can buy delicious goat milk products. Please note, you’ll need to return to Hell Valley using the same trail.

BledleKeep in mind that the Robečský brook valley is only open to pedestrians. Bicycles are not allowed (there are wooden barriers with signs prohibiting them), nor can you use strollers here. We kindly ask that you do not walk on the flowers or stray from marked paths. When these tiny flowers are relocated, they are likely to perish since they have specific growing requirements. Stepping on them also harms the substrate that supports these delicate plants. We greatly appreciate the cooperation of visitors who respect nature. The spring snowdrop is among the endangered species in our flora. Significant land development and modification in the latter half of the previous century have led to a notable decrease in their habitats, and small populations can easily be damaged through practices such as scraping land for gardens.
