Prague Unveils CZK 22 Million Plan to Lure Luxury Travelers!

The Prague City Council has given the green light to a budget of CZK 22 million dedicated to marketing initiatives designed to enhance inbound tourism in the year 2025.
This initiative, overseen by Prague City Tourism a.s., aims to attract an upscale and high-spending clientele to the beautiful Czech capital.
The marketing campaigns are set to kick off in March and continue until December, with a particular emphasis on attracting visitors from long-haul markets.
Prague will be showcased as a center for education, research, and science through various platforms, including Touchpoint, which positions the city as an exceptional tourist destination.
Furthermore, this initiative will also promote congress tourism and other promising projects, receiving support from the Prague Audiovisual Endowment Fund.
“Taking a systematic approach to enhancing tourism represents the final phase of effectively utilizing the funds generated from the local residence fee. By allocating 50% of the annual income from this fee, we are able to invest in campaigns that highlight Prague as an elegant and sophisticated destination. I am optimistic that this will increase the city’s allure and strengthen its competitiveness on a global scale,” stated Jiří Pospíšil, the Deputy Minister for Culture, Tourism, Monuments, National Minorities, Exhibitions, and Animal Welfare.
Plans for Elevated Residence Fees
This tourism strategy is in line with Prague’s Inbound Tourism Strategy for 2024–2027 and looks forward to future hikes in the residence fee.
The fee has already seen an increase from CZK 21 to CZK 50 per night for each visitor, with 50% of the revenue being reinvested into the development of tourism. The city now intends to raise the fee to CZK 100 per night, mirroring policies found in other significant European capitals.
However, to raise the fee further, legislative changes to the Act on Local Fees are essential. Without the backing of national sector organizations, the proposal cannot make progress in the Czech Chamber of Deputies.
